UGC delegation visits Malaysian universities
A seven-member delegation led by Professor Dr. M. Shah Nowaz Ali, Member, University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh visited three universities of Malaysia recently.
During the visit, UGC has signed separate Memorandum of Understandings (MoU) with three Malaysian Universities for academic and research collaboration. The universities are Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), UCSI University and Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM).
As per the MoU’s, these universities will provide scholarships in Masters and PhD programme for the faculty members of Bangladeshi universities. UGC and respective universities mutually agreed to extend cooperation in the field of academic and administrative visit, exchange of research materials and expertise. In addition, these universities will arrange short term academic, administrative training programme for UGC, university and ministry officials.
UGC Secretary Dr. Md. Khaled and Professor Dr. Mohd Azraai Kassim, Vice-Chancellor of UiTM, Professor Dato Dr. Khalid Yusoff, Vice Chancellor of UCSI University and Professor Dr. Ahmed Badhawir Abdul Ghani, Vice Chancellor of UUM signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations.
Prior to MoU’s, the delegation held a bilateral meeting with UiTM Deputy Vice Chancellor (Development) Professor Dr. Azlan Bin AB Rahman for providing academic and administrative collaboration. Senior officials of UiTM were present in the meeting.
Dr. Md. Fakhrul Islam, Director, Md. Rezaul Karim Hawlader, Director (Current Charge), Jesmin Pervin, Additional Director, UGC, representatives from Ministry of Education and Ministry of Finance were present.
